Jefferson County ice company accused of negligence

A Jefferson County ice company is being sued for allegedly causing a woman to slip and fall on a wet floor.

Donna McKeon filed the lawsuit against B&B Ice on Aug. 22 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the complaint, an employee of B&B Ice was restocking the ice machines at the Market Basket supermarket in Beaumont in June 2013. McKeon says she was walking in the store on her way to pay a utility bill when she slipped on water left on the floor from melting ice. McKeon alleges she was seriously hurt in the fall.

McKeon accuses B&B Ice of negligence and asks for more than $200,000 in damages for medical expenses, pain, suffering and loss of income plus court costs.

Attorney Brett S. Thomas, of Beaumont, represents McKeon. They request a jury trial.
