Port Arthur resident says insurance company refuses to reimburse for fire damages

Ada Steward of 6155 12th St. in Port Arthur alleges Foremost Lloyd's of Texas denied her claim for damages caused to her property after a fire broke out on May 27.

"Flames, smoke and water resulting from the fire caused damage throughout the entire home including, but not limited to, damage to the ceilings, walls, insulation and flooring," the suit filed Aug. 27 in Jefferson County District Court states.

During the fire, Steward sustained significant damages to her personal belongings and contents, according to the complaint.

Defendant Adam Decorte inspected the property but minimized the damages Steward claims she was owed, the suit states.

In her complaint, Steward is seeking actual, treble, punitive and exemplary damages, plus attorney's fees, costs, pre- and post-judgment interest and other relief the court deems just.

J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston will be representing her.
