Man seeks property tax deferment while in prison

A Jefferson County man requested deferment of property taxes while he is incarcerated.

Kish Powell filed a petition for declaratory injunction with the state of Texas in Jefferson County Circuit Court.

According to the petition, Powell is the legal heir in the estate property of Sara Osborne at 530 W. 14th St. Port Arthur. Powell states he is currently incarcerated in the O.B. Ellis Unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Huntsville and is unable to pay delinquent taxes on the property.

Powell requests that the court defer property taxes until such time as he can obtain gainful employment. He is representing himself in this case.
