Woman sues driver who allegedly ran stop sign

Stop sign inyrface

A Galveston County resident is suing a motorist alleging negligent driving in 2014 following a forceful collision.

Jessica Shadoan filed a grievance in the form of a petition and request for disclosures against Leland Randy Pruitt of Kemah in Galveston County District Court on July 21, claiming liability in a July 2014 collision that allegedly left the plaintiff with severe and lasting personal injuries.

According to the suit, the plaintiff was attempting to turn left from FM 2094 onto State Highway 146 in Kemah on July 31, 2014. The defendant allegedly disregarded a stop sign and struck Shadoan’s vehicle.

The suit states that the plaintiff received emergency room care and underwent diagnostic testing and physical therapy. Shadoan complains of pain and suffering, impairment and disfigurement, loss of earnings and enjoyment of life, mental anguish, and medical expenses.

The lawsuit states that the defendant failed to control his speed, brake, keep a lookout, pay attention, and obey a stop sign.

The plaintiff seeks between $100,000 and $200,000 in compensation for damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney’s fees, expenses, and costs. The plaintiff is represented by Carlos Hughes Jr. of The Hughes Law Firm in Houston.
