Woman claims negligence caused car collision

A Galveston County woman is suing another driver for allegedly causing a car collision in 2014.

Shana Hansen filed a lawsuit July 16 in Galveston County District Court against Misty Ellis-Bardwell, citing vehicular negligence.

According to the filing, Hansen and Ellis-Bardwell were both traveling eastbound on state Highway 6 in Galveston County in their respective vehicles on Sept. 7, 2014, when Ellis-Bardwell crashed into Hansen's vehicle when attempting to turn left onto Windwood Drive from an outside lane. The suit states that Ellis-Bardwell failed to turn left from the proper lane, yield right of way, keep a proper lookout, operate her vehicle safety and at an appropriate speed, apply brakes in a time efficient manner, or take proper evasive action.

Hansen claims that as a result of the collision she was seriously injured and has and will continue to suffer pain and mental anguish, physical impairment and disfigurement, and medical expenses.

The plaintiff seeks damages in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court, plus court costs and other relief deemed appropriate by the court. She is being represented by attorneys John Arthur Daspit and Robert Morse of Daspit Law Firm in Houston.

Galveston County District Court case number 15-CV-0732.
