A Galveston County woman’s lawsuit blames an Alvin man for injuries she allegedly sustained at a Fourth of July get-together on his property more than a year ago.
In the suit, filed Aug. 24 in the Galveston County 10th District Court, plaintiff Kerry Vernell Crow-Hart asserts that she was a guest at William Thompson, Jr.’s residence on July 4, 2014, “when she was struck in the face by a firework mortar from a fireworks display set up at the home by” Thompson himself or someone upon Thompson’s instruction.
“(The) property was owned, operated, controlled, controlled, maintained and/or surprised by the defendant and the defendant was responsible for the assembly of the fireworks display, the discharge and/or ignition of the fireworks and the property as a whole,” court documents state.
Crow-Hart adds the mortar inflicted damage to her right eye.
Consequently, she seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.
Attorney Scott Sanes of the law firm Rice Sanes, LLP in Pearland is serving as Crow-Hart’s counsel.
