Louisiana company sues to receive money for 2010 contract

A company that operates in Louisiana is suing more than a dozen entities, alleging an unpaid principal amount to supply labor and equipment for a barge construction project.

MMR International, doing business in Baton Rouge, but based in the British Virgin Islands, filed a lawsuit Sept. 1 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against David Waller of Houston,10 entities bearing the Waller name, Polar Energy Inc., Westminster Holdings, Trafalgar Shipping and Nelson Shipping.

According to the complaint, in September 2010, MMR International contracted with Waller Marine to provide workers, equipment and materials for a construction job in Venezuela. The suit says the plaintiff obtained a final judgment and agreed judgment for the amount due, plus fees, but the defendant has never paid.

MMR International seeks payment of the initial principal, attorney fees, litigation costs, interest and court costs. It is represented by attorneys Dimitri P. Georgantas, Ivan M. Rodriguez and Eugene W. Barr of Chaffee McCall in Houston.
