H-E-B hit with $1M slip and fall suit

Slip

Seeking up to $1 million in damages, an area resident is suing the HEB Grocery Company for a slip and fall that occurred earlier this year.

Sharon Reed filed suit against the grocery chain Sept. 18 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on April 11 Reed was shopping at the H-E-B on 11th Street in Beaumont. As she was walking through the store, she slipped “on a substance that was on the floor,” causing her to fall.

The suit does not state what type of substance Reed slipped in, but does accuses H-E-B of negligently failing to safeguard her against the hazard.

The suit also accuses the defendant of negligently failing to inspect and maintain its premises.

Reed is suing for her past and future medical expenses, pain and mental anguish and disfigurement, plus court costs.

She is represented by David Sanders of the Daspit Law Firm in Houston.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court, has been assigned to the case.

Case No. B-197577
