An Orange County woman is suing a physician and his medical firm, alleging medical negligence after unsuccessful hip surgery.

Arabell Cloide Schaal filed a lawsuit Sept. 18 in Jefferson County District Court against Dr. John A. Iceton and his medical practice, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on July 10, 2013, Iceton performed a left total hip arthroplasty on Schaal and she continues to suffer severe pain, weakness and other complications. The suit says Schaal continued experiencing progressively worsening pain and sought out physical therapy, which did not work, so she sought another surgery from a different physician.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant was negligent and that negligence was a cause of her injuries and damages.

Schaal seeks a jury trial, damages, court costs, attorney fees and other relief the court deems appropriate. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Craig Lewis of The Lewis Law Firm in Houston.

Jefferson County District Court case number E-197518.
