Guest sues Galveston hotel, alleging negligence for fall

A Harris County man is suing a Galveston hotel, alleging negligence for injuries he says he sustained.

Kevin Williams filed a lawsuit Oct. 5 in Galveston County District Court against Padmanabh, Inc., doing business as La Quinta Galveston Sea Wall West, alleging negligence.

On April 23, 2014, the complaint says, while Williams was staying at the La Quinta Galveston Sea Wall West hotel, 8710 Seawall Ave., when he slipped and fell in a puddle of water that had leaked through the wall and accumulated in his room.

The suit alleges the defendant was negligent in failing to maintain a safe premises, failing to warn of an unsafe condition and failing to make safe the unsafe condition, among other negligent acts or omissions.

As a result, the suit says, Williams suffered injuries to his back, legs and feet, and has sustained pain and suffering, mental anguish, impairment and disfigurement, loss of wages and earning capacity, and incurred medical expenses.

Williams seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, interest and court costs. He is represented by attorney Benjamin Barmore of Rad Law Firm in Houston.
