Harris County woman seeks unpaid overtime from United Auto Towing

Overtime

A Harris County woman is suing a towing and transportation service company and its operator, alleging unpaid overtime.

Maria Mireles filed a lawsuit Oct. 7 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against United Auto Towing & Transport and Oman Tagjedden, alleging unpaid overtime wages in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, when Mireles was employed by the defendants as a dispatcher and office assistant, from July 2014 to July 2015, she worked approximately 55 hours per week and was initially paid $10 per hour, and $14 per hour by the time her employment ended. The suit alleges the defendants failed to pay Mireles an overtime premium for time worked more than 40 hours per week.

Mireles seeks unpaid overtime compensation, liquidated damages, plus attorney fees and costs. She is represented by attorneys Thomas H. Padgett Jr., Charles L. Scalise and Daniel B. Ross of Ross Law Group in Bellaire and Austin.
