Nationwide Insurance is suing a Beaumont man, alleging negligence for vehicle damages sustained in a car accident.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company filed a complaint Oct. 16 in Jefferson County District Court against Scorpio Dion Collins, alleging negligence.

On Sept. 3, 2014, the complaint states, Collins was driving near 4100 Martin Luther King Blvd. in Beaumont when he struck a vehicle owned by the plaintiff's insured, Wincie Wiggins, and driven by Lauren Wiggins.

The suit says Collins was negligent in failing to maintain a safe distance, failing to keep proper lookout and failing to maintain control of his vehicle.

As a result, the suit alleges Wincie Wiggins suffered vehicle damages of approximately $6,600.

Nationwide Mutual seeks monetary relief of less than $100,000, including damages, penalties, costs of the suit, interest and attorney fees. It is represented by attorney Lisa Chastain of the Law Office of Driskell & Wright in Irving.

Jefferson County District Court case number B-197717.
