Former employee sues Gulf Coast Veterinary Surgery, alleging unpaid overtime

A Houston man is suing his former employer, a Houston veterinary center, alleging unpaid overtime.

Michael D. Davis filed a lawsuit Oct. 20 in the Houston Division for the Southern District of Texas against Gulf Coast Veterinary Surgery in Houston, alleging unpaid overtime wages in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

The complaint states that during the time Davis worked for the defendant as a surgical technician, from April 2011 to June 2015, he regularly worked in excess of 65-70 hours per week and was paid an hourly rate. The suit says up until December 2013, the plaintiff was not paid an overtime premium for time worked more than  40 hours per week.

Davis seeks damages for unpaid overtime wages, liquidated damages, and attorney fees and costs. He is represented by attorneys Charles L. Scalise and Daniel B. Ross of Ross Law Group in Austin.
