BEAUMONT--A patient is suing a Beaumont hospital group, alleging negligence for injuries sustained due to its failure to monitor him.

Stuart Geisendorff, filed a lawsuit Oct. 20 in the Jefferson County District Court against Baptist Hospitals of South Texas Beaumont Campus, alleging medical malpractice and negligence.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 24, 2013, Geisendorff was on oxygen-supported devices, which caused him to become agitated and he was found face down on the floor near his bed with no devices attached. The suit says no alarms sounded and the patient was not discovered for 30 minuets.

The plaintiff survived but was permanently disabled as a result, the lawsuit states.

Geisendorff seeks more than $50,000, plus punitive damages, attorney fees and costs. He is represented by attorney Colin Cobb of Harris, Duesler and Hatfield in Beaumont.
