GALVESTON—A woman is suing a national retailer after she allegedly was injured in a fall at the company's Kemah store.

Sonia Portella filed a complaint on Jan. 13 in the Galveston County District Court against Wal-Mart Stores Texas LLC, doing business as Wal-mart Stores Texas 2007 LLC.

Portella was visiting the Wal-Mart store in Kemah on August 5, 2014 when a slippery substance on the floor allegedly caused her to fall. She alleges the fall caused numerous bodily injuries that have rendered her physically impaired. She is suing the store for its alleged negligence, claiming the store failed to warn customers of the dangerous condition.

Portella seeks damages up to $100,000. She is represented by Kathryn L. Knotts of The Carlson Law Firm PC in Bryan.
