BEAUMONT — A Hardin County man is suing a shipping company, alleging negligence when he says he was injured on the job.

Kurt Shelton filed a lawsuit Jan. 5 in the Jefferson County District Court against Laskardis Shipping Co. Ltd., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on July 6, Shelton, an employee of Maxim Crane, was using a crane while on the premises of the defendant in Port Arthur. While operating the crane on the Titon, a bulk carrier vessel owned by Laskardis, the suit says, the plaintiff suffered severe injuries, including permanent and disabling injuries to his head, neck and torso, as well as other body parts.

The plaintiff alleges a reduction in earning capacity and permanent disability and disfigurement, plus medical care costs.

Shelton seeks damages for physical pain and suffering, plus court costs. He is represented by attorney B. Adam Terrell of Weller, Green, Toups & Terrell LLP in Beaumont.
