Patient accuses Previty Clinic of medical negligence

Hospital

BEAUMONT — A Hardin County patient is suing a Beaumont surgery clinic, alleging medical negligence.

Sharon Kemp filed a lawsuit Dec. 8 in the Jefferson County District Court against Previty Surgical PLLC, doing business as Previty Clinic for Surgical Care, and Keli J. McCalman, alleging medical negligence.

According to the complaint, Kemp was under the care of McCalman on Dec. 27, 2013, at Previty as the patient of a laparoscopic cholecysetectomy. The suit says following the surgical procedure, Kemp suffered complications, and the defendant was legally obligated to provide medical care to the plaintiff.

The suit says the plaintiff's damages included failure to remove all of her gallbladder with stones in place, failing to communicate the severity of her condition and failing to communicate with the surgeons involved.

Kemp seeks compensation for all damages suffered, legal fees, as well as further relief deemed appropriate by the court. She is represented by attorney John Werner of Reaud, Morgan & Quinn LLP in Beaumont.
