BEAUMONT— Two Orange County residents are suing a Longview motorist, alleging negligence in an auto accident.

Mark Mouton and Kristina Williams, individually and as next friend of Bryce Smith, a minor, filed a lawsuit Jan. 13 in the Jefferson County District Court against Terrie Baker of Longview, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 22, 2015, the plaintiffs were in a vehicle driven by Mouton on Interstate Highway 10 when they were struck from behind by Baker's car.

Due to the collision, the suit says, the plaintiffs suffered serious and permanent injuries, which require continued medical attention. The suit alleges the cause of the accident was the defendant's negligence, which included failure to control her speed, failure to keep a lookout and failing to observe traffic signals.

Mouton and Williams, seek damages of more than $200,000 for medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of wages and earning capacity, disfigurement, physical impairment, property damage and legal fees. They are represented by attorney Ryan C. Scott of The Scott Law Firm PLLC in Beaumont.
