Woman sues Walmart over alleged injuries

GALVESTON – A Texas woman alleges she was injured in a fall at a Walmart store.

Maria N. Melgar filed a complaint on Feb. 17 in the Galveston County District Court against Wal-Mart Stores Texas LLC, citing negligence that allegedly resulted in an injury.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 12, 2014, she visited a Walmart store and slipped and fell in the aisle, suffering injuries to her knee, hip and elbow. The plaintiff holds Wal-Mart Stores Texas LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for past and future expenses related to the injuries, all damages and court costs. She is represented by Michael E. Pierce and M. Paul Skrabanek of Pierce Skrabanek Bruera PLLC in Houston.
