GALVESTON — A Liberty Hill woman is suing a Galveston tavern, alleging building code violations that she says caused her to fall and injure herself.
Tonya Bourland filed a lawsuit Dec. 28 in Galveston County District Court against Stuttgarden Tavern Galveston LLC, alleging citing violation of the International Building Code.
According to the complaint, on Nov. 7, Bourland was at Stuttgarden when an employee brought out an ice sculpture that was displayed in an upper level of the tavern. The suit says the plaintiff had her picture taken with the sculpture and on her way down the steps from the sculpture, she fell and suffered injuries that required surgery.
The lawsuit states the stairs were unreasonably dangerous as a result of the defendant’s negligence.
Bourland seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, pre-judgment interest, and post-judgment interest. She is represented by attorney Jeff M. Meyerson of The Meyerson Law Firm PC in Austin
