BEAUMONT — A construction firm employee is suing an equipment rental agency, citing alleged negligence that resulted in an injury.

Leroy Smith filed a complaint on Feb. 25 in Jefferson County District Court against Sunbelt Rentals Inc.

Smith alleges that while working for Performance Blasting and Coating, which was doing contractor work for Sunbelt on May 1, 2015, he suffered severe and permanent injuries to his leg, knee and body. The suit claims the defendant failed to provide safe working conditions, failed to identify dangerous areas and failed to warn its  contractors of said dangerous areas.

The plaintiff seeks compensation for the sum in excess of $200,000 plus costs of the suit. He is represented by B. Adam Terrell of Weller, Green, Toups & Terrell, LLP in Beaumont.
