BEAUMONT – A Texas worker is suing a Jefferson County industrial facility, alleging negligence for injuries he says he suffered from a ``blow-out” fire.

Martin Rodriguez filed a lawsuit Feb. 5 in Jefferson County District Court against Choice Exploration alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 16, 2014, Rodriguez was working for Streamline Production Systems near an industrial facility owned and controlled by Choice Exploration. The suit says a blow-out and resulting fire caused the plaintiff to suffer severe burns, severe nerve damage and substantial psychological trauma.

The plaintiff alleges Choice Exploration was negligent in failing to provide a safe place to work and failing to inspect the work site to make sure it was safe.

Rodriguez seeks $1 million, plus pre-judgment and post-judgment interest as well as costs of court and reasonable attorney fees. He is represented by attorney M. Dru Montgomery of The Heartfield Law Firm of Beaumont.
