GALVESTON — A Lake Jackson woman is suing a debt collector, alleging violation of telephone harassment statutes.

Zenovia Colquitt filed a lawsuit Jan. 11 in the Galveston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Navient Solutions, Inc. alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act by continuously contacting the plaintiff without prior consent.

According to the complaint, between June-Oct. 8, 2015, Colquitt kept receiving calls on her mobile telephone in an attempt to collect debt even after plaintiff requested that Navient stop calling her.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant kept calling Colquitt, using an autodialer system several times per day, a clear violation of the telephone consumer protection act.

Colquitt seeks compensation for all damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems proper. She is represented by attorney Michael S. Agruss of Agruss Law Firm LLC in Chicago.
