BEAUMONT — An Orange County customer is suing Volkswagen, alleging fraud and product liability.
Edward H. "Eddie" Lewis of Orange County filed a lawsuit Dec. 23, in the Beaumont Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Volkswagen Group of America, Inc., alleging fraud, unjust enrichment and product liability.
According to the complaint, Lewis purchased a vehicle in December 2014 that had a defeat device, which would temporarily reduce emissions in order to pass inspection. The plaintiff alleges Volkswagen violated U.S. environmental laws.
Lewis seeks compensation for all damages plus interest, all legal fees, any other relief as this court deems just and proper, plus a jury trial. He is represented by attorney Kenneth W. Lewis of Bush Lewis PLLC in Beaumont .
