Kerens man alleges Beaumont archdiocese negligence led to injuries

BEAUMONT — A Berens man is suing the Diocese of Beaumont, alleging negligence led to his injuries in a car crash.

Terrel Tyler, Jr. filed a lawsuit March 30, in Jefferson County District Court against Curtis Guillory and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Beaumont, alleging negligence in failing to properly control a motor vehicle.

According to the complaint, on June 14, 2014, on Interstate Highway 10 in Beaumont, Tyler sustained injuries to himself and damages to his car when a vehicle driven by Guillory, working for the Beaumont Diocese, entered the plaintiff's lane and struck his car. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to follow traffic rules when Guillory entered the adjacent lane and hitting Tyler's car.

The suit says Tyler suffered serious injuries that include disfigurement, physical pain, mental anguish and medical expenses. 

Tyler seeks between $200,000 and $1 million in damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorney Felipe B. Link of Perez & Link PLLC in Dallas.
