BEAUMONT – A woman is suing a discount store for more than $1 million over a claim that she suffered injuries when an employee mishandled some merchandise that hit her from behind.

Samantha Tribe filed a lawsuit Feb. 22 in the Jefferson County District Court against Family Dollar Store Inc., doing business as Family Dollar No. 5774, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on or about April 1, 2014, as she was waiting in a checkout line, Tribe claims she was injured when an employee pushing an overloaded cart full of merchandise approached her and the employee caused a box to fall off the car, striking her from behind.

Tribe is seeking monetary relief in excess of $1 million, as well as prejudgment interest, post-judgment interest, court costs and any further relief as the court deems proper. Tribe is represented by attorney A. Mark Faggard of Mark Faggard Law PLLC in Beaumont and by Brett S. Thomas of Roebuck, Thomas, Roebuck and Adams of Beaumont.
