Slip01

GALVESTON — A Texas woman is suing a Galveston resort property owner, alleging negligence caused her to fall into a fire pit.

Laura Eichelman filed a lawsuit April 25, in Galveston County District Court against Fertitta Hospitality, LLC alleging that the property owner failed to provide adequate lighting to prevent accidents.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 24, 2014, Eichelman suffered second- and third-degree burns when she fell into the fire pit at San Luis Resort in Galveston. The plaintiff alleges Fertitta Hospitality failed to take appropriate measures and adequate safeguards to make sure no one would fall into the pit.

The suit says the plaintiff suffered physical pain, suffering and disfigurement, plus medical expenses.

Eichelman seeks a trial by jury, all damages, interest at the maximum rate allowed by the law, all medical expenses, all legal fees and any other relief the court deems just. She is represented by attorney Michael A. Lamson of Houston.
