GALVESTON — A Galveston County employee is suing Marathon Petroleum, alleging disability and racial discrimination.
Martin Armstrong filed a lawsuit May 3 in the Galveston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Marathon Petroleum Company LP, alleging he was discriminated against during his employment.
According to the complaint, in 2008 Armstrong suffered post traumatic stress syndrome after an explosion at a Texas City refinery plant that killed several people. The plaintiff alleges he was treated differently from other employees and was reprimanded for inaccurate complaints. He was terminated May 2, 2013, the suit says.
The plaintiff alleges Marathon discriminated against him because of his race, color and disability throughout his employment.
Armstrong seeks a trial by jury, all damages plus interest, all legal fees and any other relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorney Gene A. Watkins of Sherman Watkins Law Firm in Houston.
