BEAUMONT – Two children have filed a suit alleging that a defect in the locking system in a Corvette caused the death of their father.
Troy Rogers and Tricia Hernandez, individually and as co-independent administrators of the estate of James Lee Rogers, filed a complaint on April 25 in the Jefferson County District Court against General Motors LLC, et al. citing negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on June 8, 2015, James Lee Rogers became locked inside his 2007 Chevrolet Corvette and succumbed to the heat. The plaintiffs holds General Motors LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly manufactured and distributed vehicles with the purportedly defective locking mechanism and failed to warn the public of its dangers.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek exemplary damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. They are represented by B. Adam Terrell and Lindsey B. Whisenhant of Weller, Green, Toups & Terrell LLP in Beaumont.
