SHERMAN – An Arkansas man claims he was terminated for reporting discriminatory behavior in the workplace.

George Bumpus filed a complaint on May 6 in the Sherman Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Le Duff America Inc., doing business as Mimi's Cafe, citing discrimination and retaliation.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff, an African-American, alleges that beginning in November 2013, he was called derogatory names by his fellow employees. He alleges he reported the treatment several times. The plaintiff holds Le Duff America Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly terminated his employment on Feb. 2, 2014, in retaliation for making complaints about the treatment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages, reinstatement, front pay, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. He is represented by Kell A. Simon of The Law Offices of Kell A. Simon in Austin.
