A former employee of a Texas hospital has filed a lawsuit alleging discrimination, harassment, and retaliation in the workplace. On April 17, 2025, Alex Joseph Wilson filed a complaint against CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi — Shoreline in the District Court of Harris County, Texas. The lawsuit accuses the hospital of violating federal and state laws by allowing discriminatory practices to persist unchecked.
According to the court documents, Alex Joseph Wilson is a seasoned healthcare administrator who began working for CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital on July 5, 2022, as the Administrative Director of Nursing for Emergency Services. During his tenure, Wilson claims he was subjected to continuous sexual harassment by his supervisor Jeannie Berry after she was promoted without following internal protocols. The complaint details how Berry sent unsolicited explicit messages and videos and made inappropriate comments about Wilson's sexual orientation. Despite his attempts to address these issues with Berry directly and through formal complaints to Human Resources, no corrective action was taken by the hospital.
Wilson further alleges that he faced age discrimination compared to younger colleagues who received preferential treatment. He also claims that after reporting these issues, he experienced retaliation which ultimately led to his constructive discharge from the hospital in May 2024. The lawsuit cites violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), and Texas Labor Code § 21.051.
In his legal filing, Wilson seeks various forms of relief including back pay for lost wages and benefits, compensatory damages for emotional distress and reputational harm, punitive damages due to malicious conduct by the defendant, liquidated damages under ADEA provisions, attorney’s fees, litigation costs, and interest on any awarded amounts. Additionally, Wilson demands a jury trial on all issues related to fact-finding and damage assessment.
The case is being handled by attorneys Alfonso Kennard Jr. and Eddie Hodges Jr., representing Alex Joseph Wilson from Kennard Law P.C., while it will be presided over by judges at the Harris County District Court under Case ID: 2025-27363.
