Galveston County woman accuses Alvin business of breach of contract

Contract 01

GALVESTON — A Galveston County woman is suing an Alvin business, alleging it owes her money.

Sophia W. Smith filed a lawsuit April 1 in Galveston County District Court against Cardinal Chandlering LLC, doing business as Cardinal Marine, Cardinal Culinary Services LLC, Cardinal Companies International LLC and Birds Nest Holdings LLC alleging breach of contract and unpaid debt.

According to the complaint, between Nov. 6, 2013 and Aug. 30, 2014, Smith suffered monetary damages as a result of unpaid loan. The suit says Smith loaned Cardinal Marine $100,000 and the defendant was supposed to pay monthly installments of $2,000 with all unpaid principal and interest due Nov. 15, 2015.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to make timely payments for the loan.

Smith seeks a trial by jury, monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, all legal fees, interest and any other relief the court deems just. She is represented by attorneys Robert A. Davee and Elizabeth A. McDonnell of Mills Shirley LLP in Galveston.
