GALVESTON – A vessel owner alleges the ship was damaged while docked at the Watergate Marina in League City.

M/V McKinley Inc., formerly known as Caribbean Reserve Delaware Inc., filed a complaint on April 22 in Galveston County District Court against the South Shore Harbour Development Limited and Progressive Casualty Insurance Co. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 24, 2015, it suffered severe damages to its vessel as a result of a fire while docked at a harbor controlled by South Shore Harbour Development. The plaintiff holds South Shore Harbour Development Limited and Progressive Casualty Insurance Co. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to warn plaintiff as well as they should have been fully aware of the dangerous conditions on the premises.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants, all damages plus interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Spencer G. Markle and Obed De La Cruz of Markle Delacruz LLP in Houston.
