GALVESTON — A Mississippi man is suing Shell, alleging insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.
Kendrick Beecham filed a lawsuit May 13 in the Galveston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Shell Offshore Inc. alleging negligence in failing to keep the a ship safe for employees.
According to the complaint, on April 1, 2016, Beecham suffered injuries when he tripped over an unsecured drawer on his way to using a bathroom aboard the Shell Augur. The plaintiff alleges Shell failed to maintain a seaworthy vessel that was free of any hazards that could cause an accident.
The suit says the plaintiff suffered physical pain, mental anguish and loss of wages.
Beecham seeks trial by jury,judgment of $1.5 million plus interest, all legal fees and any other relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorney Sean E. O’Rourke of Simon-O'Rourke Law Firm PC in Houston.
