Employee accuses hotel operator of failing to pay overtime

Late 04

HOUSTON — A Harris County woman is suing the operators of the Lancaster Hotel, alleging failure to pay proper overtime wages.

Sarah Demaret filed a lawsuit May 26 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Emergent USA LLC, alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act in failing to fairly compensate employees for work done.

According to the complaint, between March 2012 and March 2016, she worked as a hotel front desk manager for more than 40 hours but was not paid at the legal rate of one and one-half times her normal regular rate of pay. The plaintiff alleges Emergent has consistently failed to pay overtime compensation.

Demaret seeks a trial by jury, unpaid overtime wages, liquidated damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief the court deems just. She is represented by attorneys Don T. Nguyen and Dasean A. Jones of Jones & Associates, PLLC in Houston.
