Law money 01

GALVESTON — A Galveston County woman is suing the owners of a Galveston apartment building, alleging their negligence caused her to be injured in a defective elevator.

Janet Bass filed a lawsuit June 3 in Galveston County District Court against Victorian Home Owners Association Inc. and Spectrum Organization Inc., alleging negligence in failing to properly maintain their facility.

According to the complaint, on June 4, 2014, Bass suffered injuries when the elevator jolted and dropped causing her to fall at 6300 Seawall Blvd, Galveston. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to make sure that the elevators in their facility are in perfect working condition so as not to cause any accidents.

The suit says Bass suffered physical injuries, medical expenses of more than $14,000, mental anguish and loss of earnings.

Bass seeks a trial by jury, damages of at least $100,000 plus interest, and any other relief the court deems just. She is represented by attorney Carlos Garza of Martin, Garza & Fisher, L.L.P. in Galveston.
