BEAUMONT — An employee is suing Lowe's, alleging its negligence caused her to suffer injuries.

Bali Speers of Port Arthur filed a complaint June 8, in the Jefferson County District Court against Lowe's Companies, Inc. alleging negligence in failing to make sure that the facility is safe for employees.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 8, 2014, Speers sustained physical injuries when a box of tiles fell on her while she was performing her duties at the Lowe's store in Port Arthur. The suit says the boxes were stacked improperly and caused Speers to sustain physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, physical impairment, loss of earning capacity and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Lowe's failed to provide proper warning to its employees and ensure that the facility was reasonably safe.

Speeers seeks damages of between $100,000 and $500,000, plus interest, all legal fees and any other relief the court deems just. She is represented by attorney Tom Oxford of Waldman Smallwood PC in Beaumont.
