GALVESTON — A California woman is suing a Texas borrower, alleging she suffered financial damages of $25,000.

Jeannie Santos of Fresno, California, filed a lawsuit June 17 in Galveston County District Court against Kik Internet LLC, alleging breach of contract in that the defendant failed to comply with terms of a promissory note.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 26, 2015, Santos entered into a loan agreement with Kik Internet. The suit says she has suffered economic damages of $25,000 plus interest for not being able to collect payment from the defendant on the loan.

The plaintiff alleges Kik Internet failed to pay the first payment that was due Feb. 1.

The plaintiff seeks a trial by jury, judgment up to $100,000, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney fees, legal costs and such other relief to which she is entitled. She is represented by attorney Gary D. Peak of Eastland.
