Harris County car passenger blames Oklahoma driver, company for causing crash

Car accident 43

SHERMAN — A Harris County woman is suing and Oklahoma driver and his company, alleging their negligence caused a vehicle crash that injured the plaintiff.

Lorena Mejia filed a lawsuit July 12 in the Sherman Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Voskor Investments Co. LLC., Jan Voskamp, doing business as Redbud Glass Inc. and Billy Don Koijrik, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on July 21, 2014, Meija was a passenger in a vehicle traveling southbound on Interstate Highway 35E, when Koijrik's vehicle caused a chain-reaction crash of rear-end collisions. The suit says the crash caused Mejia to suffer personal injuries, property damage, medical, pharmaceutical, and hospital expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Koijrik failed to stop his vehicle, failed to maintain proper lookout, failed to avoid the collision and failed to maintain a reasonable speed.

The lawsuit states Voskor Investments and Redbud Glass negligently trained and supervised Koijrik.

Mejia seeks a trial by jury, monetary relief of at least $500,000, actual and exemplary damages, pre-judgment and post-judgment interest, legal fees and costs, plus all other relief to which she is entitled. She is represented by attorney Daniel V. Rice of The Rice Firm in The Woodlands.
