Motorist alleges GEICO did not deal fairly

Car accident 24

GALVESTON — A League City woman is suing GEICO, alleging failure to deal in good faith.

Alyson Lopez filed a lawsuit July 26 in Galveston County District Court against the Government Employees Insurance Company, alleging violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, on June 17, 2015, an unknown motorist failed to control their vehicle and violently collided with the rear end of Lopez's vehicle on Interstate Highway 45 in Houston, causing her to suffer injuries, legal damages and expenses.

The plaintiff alleges GEICO denied Lopez reasonable demand for the uninsured motorist benefits, which she purchased to protect her from this type of situation, and refused to conduct reasonable investigations into the crash.

Lopez seeks a trial by jury, exemplary damages, pre- and pos-judgment interest, statutory penalties, attorney fees, legal costs and such other relief to which she is entitled. She is represented by attorney Richard G. Ardoin of Ardoin Law Firm PC in Houston.
