HOUSTON — A Harris County woman and her incapacitated husband are suing an event coordinator, alleging its negligence caused the husband to suffer traumatic injuries.
Teresa Aramburo and Samuel Aramburo filed a lawsuit July 27 in Harris County District Court against CVC Events Inc. of Houston, alleging negligence in failing to use ordinary care.
According to the complaint, on July 16, 2015, Samuel Aramburo was hired as an independent contractor by CVC to cater an event. The suit says in the process of moving a hot box, his co-worker lost his grip and the box toppled on top of Aramburo, causing him critical injuries and extensive trauma.
The lawsuit states Aramburo remains bedridden and tube-fed in a lifelong vegetative stage. The plaintiffs allege CVC failed to provide a safe work environment, failed to implement proper safety protocol and failed to provide adequate numbers of contracted workers.
The Aramburos seek a trial by jury, monetary relief up to $1 million, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of court and such other relief to which they are entitled. They are represented by attorney Brian S. Humphrey II of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto & Friend in Houston.
