HOUSTON — A Texas man is suing is suing dock terminal operators, alleging negligence led to his injuries.

Bradley Laurent filed a lawsuit July 28 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Kinder Morgan Inc., Kinder Morgan Galena Park West LLC and Kinder Morgan Texas Terminals LP, alleging negligence in failing to provide a reasonably safe place to work.

According to the complaint, on June 6, Laurent was contracted to work at the defendants' terminal in Galena Park and was instructed to inspect a barge docked at defendants’ facility. The suit says another barge arrived and struck the barge Laurent was working on.

The impact, the lawsuit states, caused Laurent to fall forward and strike his back. This resulted, the suit says, in serious injuries, physical impairment and disfigurement and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to ensure there was sufficient lighting at the dock, and failed to ensure its employees were properly monitoring conditions at the dock and that the defendants’ dockman continued to direct the second barge to dock.

Laurent seeks a trial by jury, compensatory damages, costs of suit and any further relief the court deems just and proper. He is represented by attorneys Anthony G. Buzbee and Andrew Dao of The Buzbee Law Firm in Houston.
