Harris County blames Texas driver for causing crash

HOUSTON — Harris County is suing a Cypress motorist, alleging the defendant's negligent caused a crash that led to injuries. 

Harris County filed a lawsuit July 31 in Harris County District Court against Prabhakar Ganapathy, alleging he violated the laws of the highways and roads of the state of Texas.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 23, 2015, a Harris County employee was operating a marked patrol vehicle when it was run into by a car driven by Ganapathy.,The suit says the collision caused the patrol vehicle to impact two other vehicles. 

Harris County sustained damages to its property and injuries and medical expenses to its employee. The plaintiff alleges Ganapathy failed to yield right of way and failed to maintain proper lookout.

Harris County seeks a trial by jury, $6,085 for medical expenses, costs of suit, pre- and post-judgment interest and all relief to which it is entitled. It is represented by attorneys Vince Ryan and Laura Kemp of the Harris County Attorney's Office in Houston.
