Seaman alleges liftboat operator failed to pay overtime

Late 05

HOUSTON — A Polk County man is suing a liftboat operator, alleging failure to follow federal law regarding overtime.

William Adams filed a class action lawsuit, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, Aug. 2, in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against All Coast LLC alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, Adams regularly worked more than 40 hours per week without receiving an overtime premium. The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to maintain accurate time and pay records and refused to compensate Adams for his employment of more than 40 hours per week at a rate not less than one and one-half times his regular rate as stipulated by FLSA.

Adams seeks trial by jury, an order allowing this case to proceed as a collective action, unpaid overtime wages, liquidated damages, attorney fees and costs, pre- and post-judgment interest and all relief to which he is justly entitled. He is represented by attorneys Melissa Moore and Curt Hesse of Moore & Associates in Houston.
