HOUSTON — A Harris County woman is is suing a grocery store operator, alleging its negligence caused her to fall and sustain injuries.
Agnes Martin filed a lawsuit Aug. 6 in Harris County District Court against Lewis Food Town Inc., doing business as a Food Town No. 15, alleging negligence and breach of duty in failing to provide a safe shopping environment.
According to the complaint, on Sept. 8, 2014, Martin was a customer at the defendant's store in northwest Houston. As she was walking down the aisles, the suit says, Martin slipped and fell on the mixture of grease and water, causing her to sustain severe injuries that resulted in pain and suffering, medical expenses, disfigurement, mental anguish and lost wages.
The plaintiff alleges Food Town No. 15 failed to detect the presence of the dangerous condition, failed to inspect and clean the aisles on a regular basis and failed to perform the standard routine maintenance procedure.
Martin seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, and all other relief to which she is entitled. She is represented by attorney Kenneth R. Baird of The Baird Law Firm in Houston.
