Passenger alleges Vidor motorist caused vehicle crash

Car accident 36

BEAUMONT — A Lumberton man is suing a Vidor motorist, alleging his negligence caused a crash that injured the plaintiff.

Joshua McKinzy filed a lawsuit Aug. 5 in Jefferson County District Court against George Howard, alleging negligence in illegally disregarding the red light and the vehicle in front of him.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 5, McKinzy was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Misty Moss. While they were stopped at a red light at Dowlen and Crow Road in Beaumont, the suit says, Howard violently rear-ended their vehicle.

The lawsuit says the crash caused severe injuries, pain, mental anguish, loss of earnings and incurred medical expenses for McKinzy.

The plaintiff alleges Howard failed to keep proper lookout, failed to slow down or timely apply the breaks and drove faster than the speed limit.

McKinzy seeks trial by jury, judgment in excess of the jurisdictional limit of the court, court costs, pre- and post-judgment interest, plus all relief to which he is entitled. He is represented by attorney Stewart M. Butler of The Butler Law Firm LLP in Kountze.
