Law money 08

HOUSTON — A couple is suing multiple contractors, alleging their negligence caused the husband to suffer injuries.

Rick Zubia and Nellie Zubia filed a lawsuit Aug. 19 in Harris County District Court against Danos and Curole Marine Contractors Inc., Archrock Inc. and Rocky Comfort Partnership Ltd., alleging the defendants negligently maintained a compressor in a dangerous condition.

According to the complaint, on April 14, Rick Zubia was assigned to work at Hixon Central CPF in La Salle County, owned by Rocky Comfort. The suit says Zubia replaced the coupling and shim pack on a compressor unit but after a Rocky Comfort employee restarted the unit, a portion of the equipment exploded.

The lawsuit states the explosion severely injured Zubia . The plaintiffs allege the defendants failed to remedy the dangerous condition of the compressor, failed to close all valves, failed to warn other parties that the valves were open and failed to train and supervise their employees.

The Zubias seek trial by jury, monetary of more than $1 million, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of court and all other relief. They are represented by attorneys Michael E. Pierce and M. Paul Skrabanek of Pierce Skrabanek Bruera PLLC in Houston.
