HOUSTON — Two Houston residents are suing a local sports bar, alleging unlawful sale of liquor to intoxicated persons.
Alejandra Juarez and Hernan Benito filed a lawsuit Aug. 29 in Harris County District Court against 333 R&B entertainment Inc., doing business as Warehouse Bar and Chil,l alleging violation of the Texas Dram Shop Act.
According to the complaint, on Feb. 22, 2015, after completing their work at Warehouse Bar and Chill, Juarez along with other employees served themselves numerous alcoholic beverages. Shortly after leaving the defendant's premises, the suit says, Juarez was involved in a car collision, injuring herself.
The lawsuit states Juarez's injuries caused her to sustain medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish and lost wages while Benito suffered loss of consortium.
The plaintiffs allege Warehouse Bar and Chill continued to serve alcoholic beverages to Juarez, despite it being apparent that she was intoxicated and then allowed her to drive her vehicle from the premises.
Juarez seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of court and all other relief. They are represented by attorney Joshua Estes of The Estes Law Firm PC in Richmond.
