Galveston couple blames city, county for injuries

GALVESTON — A Galveston couple is suing the city and county, alleging the defendants' negligence caused the plaintiffs to suffer injuries at a construction site.

Jimmy Perez and Jennifer Perez filed a lawsuit Sept. 1 in Galveston County District Court against the city of Galveston and the county of Galveston, alleging negligence in failing to protect the public.

According to the complaint, on March 29, 2015, Jimmy Perez and Jennifer Perez were riding a 2009 Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle northbound on 69th Street in Galveston approaching a curve, when they were caused to crash at a road construction site maintained by defendants.

As a result of the crash, the Perezes suffered injuries that resulted in pain, mental anguish, loss of earning capacity and medical expenses. The plaintiffs allege the defendants created and maintained the dangerous condition and failed to provide adequate warning or notice of such an unreasonably dangerous condition.

Jimmy and Jennifer Perez seek trial by jury, monetary relief of more than $1 million, costs of suit, pre- and post-judgment interest, and all other relief. They are represented by attorney Lawrence M. Tylka of Tylka Law Center PC in League City.
