Customer blames Walmart for injuries

Slip02

BEAUMONT — A Jefferson County woman is suing Walmart, alleging the store's negligence caused the plaintiff to fall and suffer injuries.

Nicole Broussard Frelow of Groves, Texas, filed a complaint Aug. 25 in Jefferson County District Court against Wal-mart Stores Texas LLC, alleging negligence in failing to use ordinary care to protect and safeguard customers.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 13, 2014, Frelow was a customer at a Wal-mart store on Memorial Boulevard in Port Arthur when she slipped and fell due to puddled water on the floor. The suit says the fall resulted in severe and debilitating pain to her left shoulder, back, right foot and right knee.

The lawsuit states Frelow sustained medical expenses, loss of earnings, pain and mental anguish. The plaintiff alleges Wal-mart Stores failed to keep its premises in a reasonably safe condition and failed to warn Frelow of the existence of the dangerous condition.

Frelow seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $100,000 and $200,000, plus pre- and post judgment interest and all other relief. She is represented by attorney Jonathan C. Juhan and J. J. Bragg of Jonathan C. Juhan PC in Beaumont.
